Got there in the end.
Went to Sutton United's FA Cup 4th qualifying round tie at Hemel Hempstead.
Being a division above them we should've been superior although they are top of their league.
Despite being 1-0 down in the first minute we went 3-1 up before conceding a dodgy penalty. Our goalie saved it but they scored from the rebound.
Early in the second half we conceded another dodgy penalty. No bookngs for either though and they scored again to make it 3-3.
We then missed a penalty and one of their players having been booked was spoken to by the referee TWICE and he still bottled sending him off.
Anyway an exciting game with the home replay on Tuesday.
That's what football should be all about Chappers Old Bean.

And you never know. We may (if we win) get drawn at home to Wolves in the next round.
Draw tomorrow about 1.30.

Get drawn away to Wolves and we'll have a few sharpeners before the game !

Ha ha!!!
1-1 until the 84th minute. At full time, though, The Pope 2 Wonga 1.
All down to the wonder sub who, obviously, is Italian.
Sadly, it's not so good for the Minstermen at present.
MC and Chelski prove a slug fest can be entertaining still, which I'm not sure is a good thing. Neither team as attractive as Arsenal or Liverpool but both still better bets for the long haul, but hope Arse and Reds do finish above them for the way Wenger and Rodgers have put football quality first, not just seven foot tall giants.
Prem totally changed now from the story of the last 00s - MU, maybe Chelsea, 2 teams at most in it. The great era of MU domination seems to be over at last. This is much better for fans in general, an exciting contest for both champions and top 4 and many more important matches.

This could be the most interesting season since the Premiership started. Really didn't think that it would ever happen. Competition wise it is almost like earlier decades.
I quite like the current version of Man City but the Dzeko situation is absolutely criminal. Would like to see Arsenal putting in an offer for him in January, even if Podolski returns and Giroud stays fit.
That referee in the Norwich Cardiff game bottled it.
Norwich did NOTHING wrong in the laws of the game. There is NO obligation to return the ball. It's just the sporting thing to do. Ironic really considering how professional and driven by results the game has become.
Didn't George Best have a perfectly 'legal' goal disallowed against England in the 1970s though, Chappers?

I think it was actually allowed wasn't it?
OK - no it wasn't.

I think that's the first time it became illegal when goalies started become pampered.
In the old days you could barge a goalie over the line.
Nat Lofthouse was probably the last player to score in a big game by charging the goalkeeper into the net. It happened when Bolton met Manchester United in the 1958 FA Cup Final. Lofthouse went into the match with a pin in a shoulder injured two months earlier, yet within three minutes he had beaten Harry Gregg. That goal brooked no argument. But Lofthouse's second in Bolton's 2-0 win caused much controversy. Ten minutes after half-time, Gregg blocked a close-range shot from Dennis Stevens, pushing the ball above his head, then catching it as it fell. But as he did so, Lofthouse barged goalkeeper and ball over the line, and the goal stood.
It was later outlawed because of those whinging scummy bastards.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that years ago on the prematch build up an FA Cup final. They were proper gents back then. My dad's got Nat Lofthouse and Stanley Matthews autograph somewhere. I think Tom Finney's scribble might be there too. It was for some commemorative set of stamps.
