As a failed Goalkeeper who once had a trial with the might of Hayes Reserves, I would say Shay Given is the best goal keeper in the Premier League; and if he was five inches taller, he would have been up there with Casillas - technically and also literally.

Cech is next, pre and post Stephen *unt.

When Almunia gets his UK citizenship, I'm sure an England shirt won't be far off. I know Capello has poo-pooed the idea but needs must as the devil drives...

Everton's record in the League Cup is terrible. We've only been to one solitary final, which was back in the '70s, and we lost it.

I'd rather take 'The Beast' from Burnley. I don't think he's ever played for Denmark and he's quite handy at stopping penalties. Could come in handy ifwhen we have a penalty shootout.

Well it's a good enough tactic for the ICC...

Are you referring to cricket?

I know bugger-all about cricket - although some people would say I know bugger-all about football.

I'm a Liverpool fan and even I know that's incorrect. Liverpool beat Everton in the 1984 final after a replay.

In fact, Everton have been in five finals if you count the two replays they played against Villa in '77.

It's probably because of all the stupid names it's had in its history.

At least the FA Cup is still the FA Cup (sponsored by Lager).

Ahh, right. Yeah, I was. The Aussies call our national team the UN cos it's a multi-national lineup.

Really? How does that work? Do they need to be naturalised?

Yes, because David James is so much better then Almunia. If fact, name 3 English keepers in the Premier League who are better then Almunia. (I'm struggling to name 3 English keepers in the Premier League full stop).

It's more or less, his aunty's stepsister's dog was born in England so we'll give him nationality and get him in the team.

Basically we scrape for everyone else's rejects cos our home-growns are all shit.

I'm usually a real "Statto"-esque geek when it comes to footie, and especially Everton, but I completely forgot about that Milk Cup Final for a minute there. We should've won the first match, at Wembley, but Alan Hansen blocked an Adrian Heath shot on the goal-line, with his hand, and no penalty was given.
