Spare 20 mil? He still has 60 mil from the Nasri, Cesc and Clichy sales, nevermind the budjet he was given at the start of the window.

I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being United's biggest win of the season - what a damning indictment that would be. The Premiership record is only 9-1 or 9-0.

Well usually when smaller teams (even championship teams) come to Old Trafford, they are tight to our players and defend in numbers, Arsenal didnt even try and defend, they just tried there normal attackign football with a weakend team.

They should have beaten the record there, Arsenal were there for the pounding, they were shambolic at the back. MU should have got 10. Still, 8's not bad.

This would seem to be the case, but what Arsenal have going on in transfers is something different to the other big clubs. They don't like to spend big on individuals, they like to bring them in, make them big, then sell for a profit if they have to.

Wenger can't offer 18m or whatever it is Bolton want for Cahill, it's not Arsenal's philosophy. Arsenal have been praised by FIFA/EUFA as a model club for financial control, and they seem to prefer this sort of worthless kudos to football trophies. It looks stupid now, they evidently have some cash but don't want to use it. Their philosophy clearly doesn't work!

Back on Wenger the coach, his credibility is fading fast. Even Merson slated him yesterday for not having a plan B. Wenger has now become Arsenal's biggest problem. He is way too stuck in his ways, too stubborn to change, and he still can't discipline his team at all.

That's a scoreline I'm Gunner masturb8-2

^Found that one floating about the internet.

Alfred J Winston Mackerel: Surely the philosophy was attributed to Wenger more than Arsenal the football club or was he just the manager when it began?

Not a gooner expert but pretty sure the Arsenal board with Dein and co. put the spend little, sell big philosophy in place. Wenger just had it banged into him so much that he has become Arsenal itself. Dein sat on the FA board too but even he went. Still Wenger stays. He isn't so much a coach as an Arsenal institution now, they don't seem to be able to let him go. And it's probably time to.

I thought the board's only reason for wanting to buy young cheap players was in order to build the new stadium, but your explanation sounds better. :)

That's about to change. They've been heavily linked with Eto'o.

*takes a bow*

Didnt Eto'o just move to some russian club for massive amounts of money?

He did, it was my attempt at a joke; I've now lost all confidence in it though :)

I think the fact I still don't get it after being told its a joke reflects worse on me than you Gerry.

I think we should share the blame equally here Jame. Nobody comes out of it with any credit :)

The joke I was going for was the Eto'o/8-2 pun. I probably won't be sending this to Newsjack.

Ahhh, I'm unhappy with not getting that one, don't worry though, I think your demographic is much smarter than me.

Here's a bad joke which I've spent literally no time working on.

Will they start calling Wenger 'The Owl' if the return fixture at the Emirates ends in an 8-2 home win as well?

2-8 to 8-2

[*fetches coat*]

Mind you, I did once hear Wenger described as Professor Yaffle...
