Now we'll sit back and invite the pressure.
What do you think about the new kit? I haven't had a good look at it, but don't like what I've seen. Why can't they make it look like a football top again?
I like the collars. okwan]
3-1 to England. Better than his (Bent) pass.
Yay!
I'll be happier with 4 goals.
Did you see Fabio stick his tongue out afterwards? Disgusting behaviour.

*curses*
Bugger!
I've got Adam Johnson as the last goalscorer in our work's sweepstake.
Damn you Darren Bent.
Yay! Percival has joined the fold!
That sounds like quite an in depth sweepstake you have going on there, Percival!

Sadly, not that in-depth. I initially drew Theo Walcott but he was replaced by Adam Johnson. T'was only £20.00 winnings though.

The kit was designed by Peter Saville who is the chap behind all the Joy Division and New Order artwork including Blue Monday.
I thought it interesting during the World Cup that they were using the early 70s tracksuits and now they've gone for the royal blue shorts like they had back then. Struck me as odd to go for a colour scheme that represented the point where we were at our least successful.
Some grim 70s Admiral shirts that older readers will remember here...

Coventry away in brown anyone? Anyone?

Mario Frick scored his 15th goal in 94 international appearances for Liechtenstein last night. Puts Heskey's measley 7 in 62 into some kind of perspective.
Goals per game ratios:
Frick - 1 in 6.27 matches
Heskey - 1 in 8.86 matches
Just noted that there is a player for Liechtenstein called Franz Burgmeier who has almost identical record to Heskey with 60 appearances and 7 goals...and he's a midfielder!
Fergie on Rooney on the BBC site...
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to discuss Wayne Rooney's current off-field problems ahead of Saturday's match at Everton. Rooney has been at the centre of allegations about his private life ahead of the trip to his former club but Ferguson would not be drawn on the kind of reception the striker might face from home fans at Goodison Park.
"Let's put it to bed straightaway. I am not discussing any of my players' personal lives," said the Scot.
Hmmm, might have been best to avoid any reference to bedroom furniture methinks...
Ha ha. Do you think Rooney actually gets beyond the darkened alleyway in some dodgy part of Manchester tho. Okay, any part of Manchester, it's all dodgy! I can easily picture him with some tom up against a wall with his bodyguard standing ten feet away.
