Do I prefer GF or GF? I think the answer is GF.
Unsurprisingly, I have neither seen nor own either.
But on the Gs, I'll go for George And The Dragon.
Goodfellas, if only because it's one of the first times the mafia are portrayed for what they are: scum. That said, I love the Godfather films.
My only problem with Goodfellas is in real life Henry Hill was a piece of shit. And it comes over in the film occaisonally,

I loved that bit in Good Fellas where people stopped going to the Pizzeria because they were staying at home to eat the frozen version.
The tension was palpable.

I think it comes over quite a lot, just his shittiness is slightly overpowered by some major-league shits around him.
Goodfellas for me. I love that film! Whereas I fell asleep during The Godfather.
I remember it being so boring Marlon Brando just falls right over during a sentence.
It's weird because people remember The Godfather - Part 3 as being really terrible, but when you watch it thesedays it's actually f**king abysmal.
I took a film class on different genres, the gangster film being one. We saw the original Scarface, White Heat, Public Enemy, Godfather I and II, Goodfellas, and French Connection (there were others that I can't recall). At the end of the class, we'd decided that we enjoyed Goodfellas more, but that Godfather was more of a quality movie and one that everyone needs to see.
My favourite though was Scarface.
Hee, film students eh.... next you'll be saying that Citizen Kane is the best film ever made, despite the fact that NO ONE enjoys watching it.
