There is no right or wrong way in the world of writing. It's all about what the writer feels is best for them, not anyone else. Just because Larry David and David Croft says its a waste of time and money doesn't mean it actually is, that is just their opinion. An opinion I don't share.

Ive met both Larry and David Croft and like/respect them both immensly, but it really is each to their own when it comes to courses. Some find it helpful, others don't.

I agree with this post. Each to their own.

When? How? Where?

DC at his home in 2004. Larry David at his office in 2007.

It's not what you know - it's who you... f**k in the mouth.

DC invited me, I'll never forget that day, I was so nervous but he was such a sweet bloke. Again, Larry David invited me to meet him whilst I was on holiday in the U.S after I wrote to him. That was a pretty good experience too, I even managed to make him laugh.

So how come you're writing to these guys? Are you just a big comedy fan? Journo? What? Sorry for the grilling but I'm interested.

DC lives not far from me. I met him once and said I had a few DA books that I'd love for him to sign, he said to me when you're in the area pop by and I'll sign them so I did. I saw his BAFTA and everything :)

Im a big fan of Seinfeld and Curb so I wrote to Larry as I was visiting California for a holiday and I knew he had an office near LA so I basically just asked if I could come by and meet him, get an autograph, a picture etc. A few months later he wrote back and said that I should pop by and if he was around he would meet me.

Nothing since July - did he die early?

but seriously there is a good reason why he hasn't had any work accepted for years despite the odd TV/radio credit, I wouldn't like to be the one that says what that reason is though.

How about a hint?

That's very forward and rather wonderful. I shall have to do more things like this.

If you don't ask you don't get, which was especially the case with Larry.

This blog crushed my blackened heart. And I was just skimming it. :(
