The BBC writer's room is a good place to start. You can download scripts and templates there that will give you a good idea.

Thanks for your help but I'm already aware of the 'open door' sites such as BBC Writersroom etc.
I'm more keen on the hidden nuggets of wisdom if anyone here's aware of any.
