Burt Reynolds? - this comedy is completely f**king finished before it's even started.

Clint Eastwood's worst movie ever (even worse than the two orangutan movies) was City Heat, a gangster comedy, which co-starred Burt Reynolds. Painful to watch, not least because Madeline Kahn was in it as well and utterly wasted.

What's wrong with Chevy Chase? There's really no difference between him and Bill Murray.

And everybody loves Bill Murray.

I love old Burt Reynolds films, I have a load on video (yes, video). And Chevy Chase has had his moments too.

Laughing out loud Easy!

I like Chevy, proper 80s legend. Yeah he's done shit, but who hasn't.

Bill Murray is Bill Murray. There's nothing else I can say.

Bill Murray is in my favourite film of all time - Rushmore.

Those orangutan movies were dreadful. Any film that portrays orangutans as cute pets is disgusting. Poachers still hunt the orangutans of Borneo to sell on the black market as pets or to private zoos. The mothers are shot dead and the young ones are taken away. Awful. And to then see them on a chain in someone's back garden, or in Hollywood movies, horrible. The one in the Clint Eastwood films was beaten to death by its trainer.

I prefer chimps dressed up as people. They have the best comedy timing out of all the simians.

Indeed, chimps are fair game. I wonder if anyone else has seen Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp, let alone bought it on DVD.

As a youngster I went to see the Clint Eastwood "Every Which Way" films--not because of the plot, of course, but because of co-star Clyde the Orangutan. Here's what I didn't know about them until today:

According to "Visions of Caliban: On Chimpanzees and People" by famed primatologist Jane Goodall and Dale Peterson, the original "Clyde" was trained with a can of mace and a pipe wrapped in newspaper. He was viciously beaten the day before filming started to make him more docile. Near the end of filming the sequel "Any Which Way You Can," the orangutan was caught stealing doughnuts on the set, brought back to the training facility and beaten for 20 minutes with a 3 1/2 -foot ax handle. He died soon after of a cerebral hemorrhage.

What can I say evolution's a bitch,

In all fairness it's how Dom Deluise died as well.

Crikey Mr Edd and Flipper also killed. It's disgusting I play one game of hamster table tennis and I get a 6 month ban from owning pets.
One rule for Hollywood and one for the rest of us eh,

Me too, I didn't know about all that stuff and just liked the film. Yeah it's very bad, but I'm not gonna changed my opinion on the film.

Not imo, I love them as a kid and would watch it if it was on now.

One of the best films about apes is a 1986 movie called Link, starring Terence Stamp and Elisabeth Shue. I caught it on HBO one night and found it quite disturbing. Highly recommended.

Last night I watched a 1980 Cint Eastwood film called Bronco Billy. Despite two gaping plot-holes, it was way better than the Every/Any Which Way You Can But Loose films and most other films Clint made in the 80s.

I loved spoof films like Airplane and Top Secret and the TV series Police Squad, which would eventually evolve into Naked Gun.

But spoof films of late have become desperate and lame.

A spoof of a spoof sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

They seem to think it's acceptable to make a pop culture reference, with no joke tied to it. That's not a comedy film, it's an advert.

I hate to say it but a film of some one beating an orangutang would probably be far more entertaining than either film.
I'd pay to see that.

In which case I cannot recommend Link too highly. Full of violence involving apes, including an orangutan.
