Does this call for an Ordinary looking Woman in Comedy thread?

Olive from On The Buses is your idea of an "ordinary looking woman"?

It is where I come from.

Because she is funny. And nice. And clumsy, and insecure. And I think she's a lot like me (except for the funny and nice bits.)

Which, believe me can feel like a f**king rarity among all the glamorous, confident, perfect looking women in sitcoms like Coupling, Not Going Out, Game On, etc whose main problems are not particularly believable 'insecurities' and romantic problems with men.

... Ah.

... Ah.

Does that mean 'ah okay', or 'ah... I still don't really get it'?

:)

Yes.

:D He's in one of his helpful moods.

Pleased

Think you make a very good point, zooo. Do you like Jen in The IT Crowd at all? I know she does have storylines involving "man issues", but I think it's nice to see that most of the laughs involving her come from the fact that she's out-of-her-depth - trying and failing to be a hard-headed, confident career girl. Plus lovely and confused sometimes - not stupidly ditzy - just confused and somewhat naive. Charming character I reckon and quite refreshing for a female in a sitcom.

I fupping love Jen. :)
Good description of her.

I know wot you mean zooo. But there's a point when this Bridget Jones style humour becomes too much. Mainly the advertisers fault for ripping it off so much. I'm still a fan n all. But it's done wrong so much on telly, it gets a bit tedious.

I am now tempted to watch The IT Crowd.

Ha! First I get 'The Daily Liar' thread moved, now through mere powers of suggestion I tempt Aaron to watch The IT Crowd. It's all starting to come together now...

Hmmm, I don't think Bridget Jones is in either of the camps I mentioned. Certainly not in the Daisy from Spaced camp.
But I see what you mean.

That's good. I didn't feel strongly enough to back it up with another post.
