I love it when you blind me with science.
Aren't you already blinded by masturbation?

Finally got around to watching this. Very good overall, though it reminds me more of the NHS I worked in 10 years ago, rather than present day. Very good performances, notably from Jo Brand (nice and restrained) and Ricky Grover's understated and beautifully pitched performance was a pleasant surprise. Good direction, though I don't think it needed the camera work of The Thick Of It. The pace of action doesn't suit it. The camera work doesn't reflect the tedium of the subject matter. Still, hope this gets a proper series.
Even by that kind of mock-doc standard, the camera work was very "duckin'-n-divin'" erratic, jumping around as if a secret agent hiding behind a series of bushes, trees, etc. There's realistic, and then there's just looking like the cameraman is having some kind of seizure.
Well I know what I mean anyway.
Agreed. Also Capaldi has implemented the jump-cut techniques used on The Thick Of It, which are over-used in this and rarely add anything. (In The Thick Of It they were used to cut between improvised and scripted takes of the same scene. Although there must have been improvisation on set in this, the pace of the comedy doesn't suit this technique much.)
I never, ever notice jumpy cameras.

They make me feel a bit travel sick.
I think the jumpy cameras were perfectly suited to this. I accept it wasn't particularly fast-paced but for whatever reason I just think it went well with the rawness of the show.
Excellent, I really enjoyed this.
Yay!
Can anyone remember what the theme tune to this is? I know it was by Richard Hawley but I can't remember what song it was.
Roll River Roll.
Jo Scanlan just tweeted:
"We're into the last two weeks of writing for Getting On - shoot begins JAN 18TH at a new secret hospital location....in Plaistow."
