BTW does anyone remember Heartburn Hotel written by John Sullivan?
As I remember there was huge media anticipation about it and then...well it just sort of fizzled out as the series was aired. To be honest I don't remember a lot about it. Was it any good?

Is that the thing with Tim Healy?

If it was, it was OK, nothing special though. I'm sure it was either too silly or not silly enough. Very nothing-else-on TV, as I seem to remember. But I was about 15, so everything was like that.

We just had a long discussion about this.

There is risk whenever a successful writer does something new, but he has the talet, I just feel it was wasted on The GGG. It was a poor show.

I enjoy it. I think a lot of the criticism of it is unjust. The comparisons with OFAH, mainly. It's totally different.

You're right. OFAH was pretty funny.

I have to agree with Aaron.

It is easy going. Nothing compared to OFAH but is good when you compare it to crap like Grownups and Coming of Age. You have to agree about that or have I just found the one and only fan of Coming of Age? :(

Yes, yes you have. Cool

I watched the Only Fools episode Modern Man last night and it really did show Sullivan's genius. True, without good actors it wouldn't have been nowhere near as effective, but the scene of the miscarriage, I don't think I've ever experienced such a difference in emotions (extreme sadness and extremely funny aswell), certainly not in a comedy programme.

Who?

People who don't like The Green Green Grass in general. I'm not pointing at any one person.

I watched Heartburn Hotel on YouTube a couple of months back and it was quite funny. The problem was that Tim Healy's character was unlikeable. Apart from that it was the sort of stuff you'd expect from John Sullivan.

I feel I should also mention that Dear John... is easily one of the greatest sitcoms ever written. Even though it didn't really catch on in England (probably cos everyone was comparing it to OFAH). The American version was really successful.

Didn't it kind of have a proper ending?
