Wouldn't surprise me if he suddenly died before entering prison rather like Ken Lay (Enron).

Don't know about the tarriff for murder, depends on the who, why and how, I guess.
But Madoff has been the cause of more human misery, and probably more premature deaths, than most murderers, so the sentence seems fair.
Lets not forget someone shot himself in the head because of what Madoff did. The man had lost everything so just ended his life in a Southampton park.
