I think he's writing his own version of them called "Just Delaney" about a maverick cop.
I actually found a first edition copy of 'Just William' in a newly renovated pur/restaurant owned by a antipodean TV Chef. I pointed the fact out to the manager who put it in the safe and I didn't even get so much as a schooner of the amber nectar for my trouble! I mean fair suck of the sav!

Should have just nicked it. A victimless crime as it involves cooks - or "chefs" as they like to be known.
Getting back to the subject matter, I'd give my right hand to be a member of the Footlights. Does anyone know how to get into Cambridge?

Not that it would necessarily help you, but you can also join Footlights if you are a member of Anglia Ruskin University. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglia_Ruskin_University
First of all I hope the person asking the question is still in school, about to do their A levels. Otherwise you may have left it too late already. Assuming you're at the right stage in your education, then follow the link above then apply. Let nothing stand in your way. Like, for example:
"Percentage of poor pupils admitted to Oxbridge? 1%" http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2010/dec/22/percentage-poor-pupils-oxbridge-one-percent
"Straight A grades 'no longer good enough to get into Cambridge', university says" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/universityeducation/5000695/Straight-A-grades-no-longer-good-enough-to-get-into-Cambridge-university-says.html

Don't be deterred. Lots of normal everyday, state school pupils get into Cambridge and join Footlights. Ask David Mitchell, Robert Webb, Ben Miller, Alexander Armstrong, Tom Basden, Mark Watson, Sue Perkins, Andy Parsons, Simon Bird. I'm sure one of them has met someone from a state school, probably while at Cambridge.
