Oooh, I love those double-ended pens that disappear fountain pen ink, and then write over it. Yumm.

Very sorry to hear about this, bigfella. I got off light when I worked in the Spar, and I wouldn't sell booze and fags to kids. I was constantly getting the typical' baldy bastard' shit. Once one of then tried throwing a traffic cone at me. Just walked on.
The thing to have when I was at Primary school was fancy pencil sharpeners. At Secondary, it was tamagotchis.
And whatever it was at my school, you can bet I didn't have it.
Herpes?
I'm ridiculously sorry that this happened, bigfella, and ashamed that it means people my age end up with a bad reputation because of things like this. I'm totally not marginalising it, so please don't get me wrong, but when older people assume that all teenagers are like this, or that we're just all hanging around, waiting to stab one another, it frustrates me no end. The government throws exams at us, which we succeed in, and are faced with "it's because they're getting easier." There are awards for young people who do good, but it's always the shootings and the knife crime and the beatings which end up in the media. Rightly so, as even one event like this is too much, but it's not all young people who are to blame.
Once again, I am very sorry that this happened, and hope no end that she is okay, bigfella, but I feel sometimes like people forget that you talk to teenagers often on here, or you read our posts, and we're not all aggressive idiots. As Laura said, we're not all "druggy twats". It's people, not just the young ones, who are to blame at large.

Thanks for the comments.
Most young people are lovely, as seen by the reaction at my daughters school - as you say it's a cross section of society that is too blame. And that cross section that needs to be sorted. Are we allowed to burn them, like witches?
I've always thought the national service thing would be a great idea - as I've said before not just miltary but NHS + Police as well, it would be a great experiance for young people and allow everyone to give something to society. It would help people who are likely to find it hard to get jobs some valuable experiance and for others a chance to experiance the reality of life. I went to Uni and my mate, who was a public schoolboy really thought that most of the population went to University, because everyone at his school did. I explained that I was one of 10% in my school that did.
The druggy twats can all go in the army though - not get the NHS placements!
This idea isn't picking on young people, but it would have to start somewhere and it would have to start with the young.
But as I am not in office - you needn't worry.
Oh the exam thing happens every year - same old headlines. All I can think is that poor bastard who sat that first ever exam. It must have been the hardest thing ever!
BTW - I'm not that bloody old you know, I'm 32! Now bugger off back to your drugs!
Lots of people I know are going to university. The majority, in fact, and now we even have to pay for the pleasure of another 3 years of education. I don't think I'm "owed something" by society and so shouldn't have to give something back, but I would resent national service, I think. I've done charity work; I have been, and would consider I still am, a student mentor for the younger years; it may sound silly and like I'm clutching at straws, but I've told my parents that if, heaven forfend, I die and they're asked, I'd like to donate my organs; I donate blood; I have parents who are a nurse in a hospice and a policeman. I have been confronted with decisions every day of my life since I was about 14 and started debating, and taking an interest in my parents' professions, and feel that I will give back as I want to, not because some higher power deems it that I should.

But it would become a part of life....like in the old days.
But anyway...we don't have it, and aren't likey too.
But can I still burn the evil witches?
Why not? Poor o-zone though.

She is in fact my step daughter. My wife is ten years older than me.

Don't get me started on these fake environmental problems.
I have one thing to say at this point: experience*
Only just picking up on this thread - hope your daughter makes a full recovery, bf.

3 years is a long time, maybe a year or 2? I know people who did it in other countries gained so much from it. It's kind of a gentle pressure to get out and see life, in a way university or gap years don't. It doesn't have to be harsh or militaristic.
It's also a great leveller between classes and races.
I did Kibbutz for a year and gained so much more from the experience then I did from Uni.
