One old lady brings her dead husband's false teeth with her for good luck, which she stands her bingo dabber on between games.

That's FANTASTIC. Someone should do a documentary about U.S. and UK bingo culture.

Does that really come under the life-changing category??

Only if they are wonky or made of cheese.

Some girls do look as if they might be smuggling a couple of Edams.

Before our state-wide smoking ban, we had bingo at our church. Little old ladies would sit with 15 cards and their dabber and pound away at the cards. My favourite lady's name was Ethel and she smoked extremely cheap long cigarettes and always had about 2 1/2" of ash on the end. She had a vase of silk flowers and a mushroom figurine for luck. She wore a "50 and foxy" baseball cap and green sweats. I wanted to go every week, but the haze of cigarette (and cigars, mind you the crowd was all women) smoke would always make me sick to my stomach. My great grandma smoked her unfiltered Luckys and stroked her rosary beads for luck, which always seems a bit blasphemous to me. When I did go I was the coffee runner. Ah, the memories of my youth.
