This is VERY odd...

I've dealt with lots & lots of Windows computers & except in the very early days (before windows 95) never known the key to enter the Safe mode menu to be other than f8.

F12 is often a menu for choosing the boot device. And either f2 or DEL are usually the keys to enter BIOS.

I'm F5 too, I think.
