Why, was there a shortage of balls?

In the Bloomsbury group there was.
Here's Lulu question...
My missus is going to publish a book there. At the moment, it's a Word doc - about 80 pages of text with a few photos in it, scattered in places.
Now, would it just be published "as it is" ???
i.e. the same mixture of text and piccies, or do piccies have to be a separate "plate" in the book.
I couldn't find the answer to this on their website.
There's a 'how it works' video, it says you can drag n drop photos in how and where you want. I think you get many chances to edit and finalize your projects.
Oh right.
What if the word doc already contains piccies in the right places?
I looked at pricing and it's one price for b&w, one for colour, etc.
Am I right in assuming that the price will tally up as I upload / edit her book ????
Sorry, I don't know anymore about it.
There's a price calculator, have you tried that?
I haven't had a good look yet, as the other 'arf hasn't finished the book yet.
Mind you, she's had interest from a local publisher who specialises in local non fiction.
Awesome. Good luck to you both
I'm digging up this old thread.
As my agent hasn't managed to sell my effort - I'm thinking of putting in on Lulu.
I wondered how Mikey found it - and if anyone else actually got any sales?
I'd like to try to time the release with the TV show which is out end of November.
I'm also a member of a weight loss surgery forum - this has 15,000 members!
Are there any other self publishing sites out there as big as Lulu?

I'm not a lady you see.
Only ladies buy these books and they like reading about ladies!
But I thinkthat's bollocks and I'd like to prove them all wrong!
You're quite well informed Dolly - what do you think?

Ha, thank you.
Well, there's loads of blokes in your position, so you'd think it would be different. Do you remember the guy on This Morning whose weight loss they followed? That's seen as a women's show, yet everyone wanted to know about him.
This is what I think!
In fact I think its better I'm a man - I don't think a woman will care that I'm man they'll see the 43stone thing and think ohhhh I'll read that and also because I'm a man, men may be interested as well.
Is self publishing sensible though?

Apparently not, but I don;t know these days. Where's Marc P when you need him?
I did think of doing some self-publishing myself (and hopefully will one day), but that was for the info I'd collected on my family history. Having ahuge family, I know there'd be takers.
Is your agent totally giving up on it?

My missus still hasn't finished her book yet, so I'm still none the wiser about how good Lulu is.
Of course, results will always depend on how a book is marketed/promoted.
You can't just rely on buyers browsing Lulu, because I feel, as with any site like that, most visiters will be other authors.
I'd like to try to time the release with the TV show which is out end of November.
Is there any way that they can say "and the book is available at" during their credits?
Actually, thinking about it, of course they won't.
But you can market the book with "as seen on TV."

Amazon have recently launched CreateSpace.
