We know what you think, though, which is that any suggestion that analysis is a useful part of the writer's skillset should immediately be dismissed with comparisons to "following a formula" and "programming a computer with the rules of comedy" etc. And for that reason, I'm out.

You didn't analysis my statement that it was 'interesting and useful' very well though. You used your imagination and intuition to add extra meaning!

Right, you're "a reasonable person" and I'm "uptight" and "hung up on rules". Gotcha.

Well analysised. :)

Am I not allowed to have my own thoughts and queries on this subject then? If not, why?

When are you two booked for Harry Hill's TV Burp by the way?

:)

Your helpful suggestions about "programming a computer to follow the rules of comedy" and "following a formula" provided the clue.

I was asking a geniune question and would have been interested to have read other people's thoughts. There was no hidden meaning.

I don't think you are interested in other people's views in the slightest.

Laughing out loud Yes I was. There you go making assumptions again. Honestly Griff what is your problem with me? Why can't you accept anyone having different ideas to you? If it was something important I could maybe understand - but over writing sketches? Jeez.... Rolling eyes Am I the new Seefacts or something?

Read back over the thread Dolly, and see which of us started dismissing the others viewpoint first. I'd say it was the one who started making ridiculous comparisons about "following formulas" and "programming computers". In fact at no point in this thread have I suggested that your intuitive way of thinking is bad at all, of course instinct and intuition are the most important thing of all. All I said to bigfella was "analysis is useful too". The intolerant one here is you.

Okay.

Quote: Dolly Dagger @ November 6 2009, 11:42 AM GMT

Yes, intuitive thinking gets far better results IMO. Not to say analysing isn't interesting or useful, but if you're approaching comedy writing from that angle I don't think it will work as well.

I wonder if a computer programme was designed to follow all the rules of comedy, whether it would come up with something funny? I think it probably wouldn't.

Yeah you're right Griff, how could I have been so rude and dismissive of something you said? Rolling eyes . I sounded like such a intolerant bigot didn't I? Now can you have a go at someone else please.

:D *waves*

Good well I am glad that is all sorted, this thread has been distracting me from the important work of inventing sandwich recipes.:)

Try the Inversion Sandwich, where you turn the sandwich over.

Sadly not the hard drive on mine. Piece of shit.

There's no hard drive in the world could survive your daily tsunami of porn.

You stop featuring in it and I'll stop watching it.

I've just re-read this thread and certain words sprung to mind; 'over-reaction' and 'nuts' mainly. :D

Griff obviously has some huge beef with me about something and it's not because I asked a couple of questions on this thread asking people's views on a subject, in a perfectly fair and reasonable way. I'm fairly curious to what this might really be about, but I won't lose sleep over it.

If Griff would care to explain, without resorting to listing things he has inferred from my posts, I'd be interested to read it, because frankly the ill-feeling I'm getting is totally disproportionate to anything I've posted - even if you believe there were hidden meanings.

That was it?! Blimey - talk about over-reacting! Do you take things this badly in real life too, because it can't be good for your health? Is there anyone else on here you dislike as much or just me?

It's the sort of conversation that would have never have developed along these lines in real life. As a neural and fascinated observer I would say there has been some real misunderstandings here.

I don't suggest you kiss, but shake hands and make up. Life is like seefacts after all. :)
