I tried showering in cold water once when my boiler broke. I nearly went into cardiac arrest. Try it, it's unbelievably unpleasant.

I think I might give it a miss now.

Nonsense !

It's all part of growing up and being British.

We didn't rule half the world with that sort of attitude young man !

(and it gets rid of those horrid little thoughts you've been having)

Today was the first day of Winter in my part of the world as far as I'm concerned. I live just outside Hereford and it was -1 outside. The road between and Hereford and Abergavenny was covered in black ice and an oil tanker turned over spilling it's contents and blocking the road. The joys of the long commute!

So windy! Had to do the bad mime walking against the wind walk

I hear schools are closed in Scotland cos weather is just too awful.

And the kids. Little ginger bastards.

Yes, it's awful. Quite frightening, in fact. Large bit has just blown off a neighbour's roof. Tress round us look very threatening - if I could remember my geometry, I could work out whether the biggest one will crash through the roof or stop short. I'd also need to go outside with a long tape measure ... maybe not. :O

Oh, that's horrible, weather shouldn't be frightening. Are your neighbours okay?

Yes. It'a bout 2 feet of ridging that's gone, and obviously this loosened slates which fell. She's parked her car outside our house, no doubt in case more things fall. Naturally all this is accompanied by torrential rain!

Bugger.
Wind is by far the most rubbish of the weathers.

I'm no meteorologist, but I think you sort-of need wind though, to get any type of weather?

I don't think the wind blows the sun around the earth.

BUT IT MIGHT.

I bet it bloody does. Blows it right away from the British isles. Sneaky bloody wind.

:D

What (I think) I meant is that wind is a consequence of atmospheric pressure gradients and they mostly determine what weather happens where. So no wind = no pressure differences = no high pressure sunny, hot weather/no low pressure cold, rainy weather.

Um... Errr

The boiler broke in our ancient barracks when I was in the Army, so we had to take cold showers for a week. It was below freezing outside and quite unpleasant.

F**k me. Respect.
