The Weather Page 59

Dear diary. Today has been shit.

-Got up at 6.30. Had breakfast.
-7.15 car slides off road into a ditch
-7.30. AA refuse to attend because I've not actually broken down and they won't come into the lane anyway cos they only have two wheel drive vehicles.
-8.30 attempts to move vehicle by putting old bits of carpet under wheels and swearing loudly at it doesn't surprisingly work.
-9.00 No local residents are available with 4 wheel drive/tractor to pull me out.
-9.30 first garage I contact won't come into the lane. Only 2 wheel drive vehicles
-10.00 second garage I finally get through to sends a vehicle to my rescue.
-11.30. I am out of ditch. Hurrah. Rescue vehicle is stuck. Boo. Which also blocks my path out of lane. I am also £110 lighter.
-12.00 me and rescue vehicle are out.
-1.15 I arrive at work. Only twelve out of thirty of the lazy bastards have bothered to turn up bearing in mind they live around corner.
-1.30. Shoots self.

So what you're saying is, you got the morning off work.

Some people will complain about anything...

I'd make him take it as annual leave !

:)

Don't slag off the 'babysitter', you can't expect parents to actually spend time with their kids, that would be ridiculous.

My advice to roscoff is to sleep at the school, that way he'll be on time and not have to worry about getting his car stuck. If he refuses, then brand him as someone who hates kids and is in the wrong job - whatever it takes so that someone else can take the little bastards off your hands for a few hours a day.

That would never be a problem if you lived in Texas. I think I'm the only resident who doesn't own at least one pickup truck.

Quite possibly to be written on my headstone.

For some reason the wind made my eyes water today, so I arrived in looking like I was crying. And I'm back off out into the wind now for another crying jag.

I get that all the time, so I often wear my big sunglasses and look like a poseur instead.

I don't know why the school can't let the kids play skidding on the ice instead of closing off the playground and making the children sit in silence in the hall every break time watching videos.

What school wants a law suit on their back when a kid falls over and smacks it's head?

I agree though Dolly... Health and Safety gone crazy, but this has only come about thanks to the amount of "claims" being made.

Yep, kids have broken their limbs falling from the climbing equipment schools have to provide to meet curriculum requirements and outside the school gates was covered in thick ice for days and not gritted. Luckily we walk to and from school otherwise there's not a lot of fresh air and exercise going on.

I was annoyed as a kid when snow balls were banned. Then I heard conkers were banned in schools too. Madness.

Surely kids get more annoyed NOT being able to play outside.

It got banned in my old school cause retards were putting stones in the middle of the snowballs and some kid split his ear open.

People like that don't deserve to go outside...

Current policy at our place is that the kids get 15 minutes snow time in the morning but break is staggered so not too many on yard at time. Lunchtimes they are kept in because staggering lunchbreak is not possible. No conkers have been seen as yet :)
