Quote: zooo @ October 17 2013, 11:56 AM BSTWinter starts on the 1st of December. And ends on the last night of February. In my opinion.
These official/solstice dates are just silly, they always leave it too late.
Cor blimey luv a duck. It's like having our very own soothe sayer. As you well know it's all to do with the position of the Earth relative to the Sun. Are you saying this does not happen? (Burn her as a witch I say.)
Is that you on the left?
I'm saying the position of the Earth matters not compared to the lovely neatness of having exactly 3 full months per season.

3 full months my eye! Up here winter runs from the beginning of November to the end of March. Actually it's already bloody cold.
Well, obviously I wish our winter was about 6 months long!
Am so jealous.
But it was freezing here up until about May if I remember correctly, why can't it be like today all the time but a few degrees colder, sunny and crisp is the way forward.
Ooh yes, chilly and sunny Autumn days are lovely.

Great ride home tonight. Such a nice evening I went the long way around. No high viz jacket required and bloody warm. I could get used to this global warming
