I was wondering if anyone else had heard this. For those not aware, The Dongle of Donald Trefusis is Stephen Fry's latest audio series.
Referred to by Fry as "a mixture of podcast, audio book and radio monologue", it features Fry playing himself and receiving an inheritance from Donald Trefusis, senior tutor and professor of philology at St. Matthew's College, Cambridge. Trefusis (or rather Fry as Trefusis) also gave contributions to Loose Ends and was a central character in Fry's first novel, The Liar.
In Dongle, Trefusis has since died, leaving Fry his collection of essays and his vast libary. While visiting it, Fry comes across a dongle/USB drive which features audio recordings of Trefusis talking to him from beyond the grave.
The first episode, released on Tuesday, has already proved popular. It is the most downloaded spoken word album in the UK and USA, and is the second most downloaded album in the UK album charts overall, behind someone from Britain's Got Talent whom I've never heard of.
