Best broadband / phone package? Page 2

I've heard nothing but good from Talktalk.

I've only heard bad things. Indeed, Lee started this thread in that vein. However, I've had exactly the same experience Timbo had, except with Virgin. Something I've not had a problem with, is losing the service very often. Maybe a couple of times a year.

why not ring Virgin and say you are definitely cancelling your TV, and what deal will they offer you not to cancel the rest?

I don't think they do a package without TV, do they?
I also want to change because I've not got wi-fi, & you get that with a new install, but it would cost me like £50 to get Virgin to do it.

"Talk Talk was voted best braodband provider (By it's customers)"

Actual advertisement slogan.

Not if you threaten to leave, it won't. Ask to speak to their retentions team (generally very helpful). Or have a look on money supermarket.com for an example of someone who's got a good offer, then quote it to Virgin, Likelihood is they'll match it. If not, you've not lost anything.

I see Talk Talk are offering a really cheap £7 (+£12 line rental)
Unlimited evening & weekend UK landline calls with 40GB download allowance a month, or £15 (+£12 line rental) for unlimited download allowance & anytime UK landline calls.

Is 40GB a meagre monthly amount? I don't really understand what is covered by the term 'download', does that mean streaming movies, watching iPlayer etc?

Yes. Also e-mail, web browsing and anything else you do.

I average 150 - 250 GB per month but I download every show and movie that I watch at home.
