Best broadband / phone package?

I'm with Talk Talk at the moment where broadband is free if you take the phone package at 9.99 a month. For that you get free calls 24/7. But the customer service is as crap as the actual broadband connection.

What deal are you on? I'm looking for a change.

I'm with O2 and BT but am changing to O2 more mobile and broadband since you get it cheaper as a mobile customer. I never really needed CS but the couple of times I called them seemed ok.

I have Virgin and believe me it is not worth it, they are crap! Richard Branson is screwing the lot of us.

I was with Virgin and the customer service was so awful I got a dongle from O2 for the short term. It turned out to be so much better I put up with the extra cost and cancelled Virgin.

Stitch that you beardy bum hole.

I've had Virgin for the last year and it has been spot-on!

I had NTL/Virgin for a year whilst at uni and wouldn't wish them on the French.

I had O2 for a second uni year and they were absolutely excellent, can't fault them in the slightest. And as Gav said, if you have a mobile with them it's even cheaper (you only need to get a pay as you go one and put £10 on every 2 or 3 months, no contract necessary).

Otherwise, I've had BT for as long as I can remember and aside from capping my speed because I'd downloaded too much, I have no criticism for them either. Bloody expensive though. (Although we actually got a cheaper connection and a faster speed when we took the BT Vision box for no charge!)

I've got the BT vision package and find it very reasonable and our internet speed is brilliant. :)

However, I refuse to speak to customer service because it's out in India and they still haven't changed the incorrect spelling of my name in nearly 18 months despite calls/emails and letters.

I've had problems with Virgin lately. I'm on 20Mb for £20 plus £9.99 line rental.

I'm thinking of changing from Virgin now. I don't need their TV package, since I can get all I want from my PC, so in theory, I could save a packet by going to someone link Talk Talk...except that everyone says they're crap.

What is recommended at the moment?

I had a nightmare with TalkTalk - having progressed my order so far they realised they had cocked it up, so it progressed no further. Once I eventually established the problem I found myself in a limbo where I was unable either to have the order completed or to cancel it and start again, or to identify anyone to complain to in order to escalate the issue. Hours were spent on the phone to various call centres all whom would seek to pass me onto someone else. This is a problem with all companies with streamlined ordering systems - as soon as anything happens slightly out of the ordinary there is no mechanism for addressing it. The calculation seems to be that the saving from keeping costs down for 90% of orders is worth the lost custom from cocking up the other 10%.

I got Tesco broadband for my mum. Ordering was straightforward enough, but the connection is hopeless, often going down entirely at peak periods.

I am with BT - no problems, and, on a special deal, I got a competitive price; problem is you have to wait for them to offer you the deal, you cannot bargain with them, as I found when I tried to get the same deal for my mum.

I've just got rid of BT as it was so expensive, I swapped to orange as I got a good deal what with having an orange mobile. Even the BT line rental is cheaper with orange and the broadband is about a third of the price. Bargain.

I've heard nothing but good from Talktalk. Everyone seems to be going on it, saving a packet and getting fast speeds.

From real people, like. For all I know you could work for a rival company. Where'as my mate Dave, he doesn't work for a rival company or Talktalk. So I trust his testimonials more.

why not ring Virgin and say you are definitely cancelling your TV, and what deal will they offer you not to cancel the rest?

I rather like Virgin. Easpecially the customer services, who are very good. I'd never go with BT purely because of their extremely poro customer care/waiting tiems etc.
