Hello everyone, I'm going to New York in the summer and the people I am staying with in America are asking me what I want to do when I'm there. Hopefully, people on this forum will know what kind of guy I am, so if you could recommend anything I could do there in the Summer which I'd like, please let me know.
New York
Never been to New York yet. My wife has been a couple of times for business and her favourite place is the Rockefeller building. Probably not what you wanted to hear but she didn't check out any pubs while visiting.
Yes, I'm not planning to go to New York to go to pubs, I can get all that in Manchester, I want to go on some great day-trips, but what would be recommended?
The Intrepid museum has an aircraft carrier, a Concorde, a submarine, lots of aircraft and will one day have a retired space shuttle.

The guy who inspired Kramer has a Seinfeld tour.
Spend some time in Central Park. Enjoy all the museums. Eat a pastrami sandwich as big as your head. See a show. Wave at the morning hosts behind the glass at NBC.
Go and see David Letterman!
Other then that, it is a tourist paradise -
Empire State Building
Times Square
Statue of Liberty
Wall Street
Ground Zero
5th Avenue
Broadway
Personally, I'd grow a mullet, put on an eye patch and a sub machine gun and pretend to 'Escape'.
If you're a musician I hear busking can be fun and profitable in New York. I've done it but I started at Ground Zero. I've never heard 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' Booed before. Still, it was an experience.
Seriously, get on one of the tour buses. It takes you everywhere and you can hop on and off anytime. They are also very regular, we bought a 48 hour ticket and its was a great intro to Manhattan (and Brooklyn, Harlem if you fancy it). For the next few days we knew what we wanted to see more of.
Its also worth walking over Brooklyn bridge as you get the best views of Manhattan. Rockefeller is the best place for views from high up. And Central Park is a great break from the buildings. Its a great place, can't wait to go back!

Balls, and class. As Ted the Lawyer would say - you are a... wonderful person, and... I love you.

Thank you. (I assume that was for me?) For a bonus point anyone tell me the link between Leaving on a Jet Plane and Ground Zero other than the obvious? No. John Denver who I believe wrote it died in an air crash. He did the driving though in this case.
Aaanyway enjoy New York although it's only a more modern version of Amsterdam.
Get the first boat of the day to Liberty Island, go up the statue and laugh at all the people queuing when you are on your way down.
Ellis Island is interesting too.
Great city, great fun. Echo what others have said. Tip for Rockerfeller centre (so I hear) is to go to the bar and buy a big cocktail - works out not much more than the charge for going up the elevator, and you can have a relaxed cocktail while you admire the view.
My fave buiding is the Flatiron.

Due to poor user interface design. *nods*
So many things, so little time - Depends on your interests.
Museums, art galleries, sports stadiums, shopping, sight seeing, Broadway theatre, iconic architecture, film locations.
Probably the most exciting city in the world.... and I expect they serve Carlsberg too if you look hard enough.
Just stand on Times Square and watch the world go by.
Not ideal for rolling countryside and getting away from people mind you.
Have fun.
Find Woody Allen, get in an argument with him, film it and pretend for the rest of your life that it's a deleted scene from one of his films.
"Not even good enough for a Woody Allen film."
Worst. Insult. Ever.
