Supermarket sitcom Page 2

Enjoyed this, good visual actions taking place also. Made me chuckle :D

I don't think there's actually been a supermarket sitcom, but, like I said, it's probably the most submitted type of script.

After all, thing of all those young tortured souls with time to think as they stack shelves in the bread section, knowing that the script in their head could be the best thing since the products they're stacking. If only... if only!

I should know. Years ago, I was... that soldier.

Cheers guys! I had to deal with women like that on a daily basis. Supermarkets are a goldmine for comedy. Has there ever been a really popular one based at a supermarket? There must be, as it's a situation we can all relate to.

Not sure how one would qualify popular exactly, but Tripper's Day starring Leonard Rossiter, and after his death Slinger's Day starring Bruce Forsyth.

Do you think production companies stay away from the setting due to the costs involved? (sets, extras etc).

I would guess that it's that, as well as the knowledge that due to inevitable Open All Hours comparisons and the familiarity of the setup, the script would have to be excellent top-quality on every level.
