I drank beer and was drinking in bars before I ever drank a single cup of coffee :)

Crikey, wasn't expecting such an aggressive response...you should cut down on the coffee. :)

When you are a wee kiddy wink, you try certain foods and drinks and know straight away whether it tastes good or not. Coffee and alcohol are two such cases in point.

I drink alcohol to get drunk, not because I think it tastes good. I think most coffee drinkers started young to appear more grown up and have slowly grown to accept the taste.

Oh well, at least you admit to being a normal coffee drinker and not one of these nutjobs who goes into Starbuck's and puts half a pound of chocolate in their beverage to make it taste palitable.

There's another thing, you get some people sayin that they like coffee and then add the cream with caramel syrup and cinnamon dusting. Okay, if you like that sort of thing but is it really still a coffee?

It really does nothing for me, the smell alone makes me wanna gag. That coupled with the look of it and the colour of it all adds up to a mistake to me.

Pint of kronenberg any day of the week, or time of day, we're adults now so can drink whenever we want, that's nice isnt it?

You see, it all comes down to personal taste. Kronenberg for me is only marginally above Fosters and Carling on the tates stakes, which I avoid at all costs. I'd rather have a Coke with ice and a slice than Fosters or Carling. The first draught I look for when I go into a pub is Carlsberg Export, Heineken or Grolsch, then Kroneberg and Stella if I have to.

You have such lovely beers in the UK, why settle for that nasty stuff?

I agree that coffee tastes disgusting - but I can't see why you drink lager though. Where is the taste?

Drink REAL ALE!

If that you think that stuff is nasty, you must hate Busch Lite, or Pabst Blue Ribbon? Mind you, do either of those two really have a taste? From personal experience of the times I've been in the States, Bud is the strongest Americans want to go.

I presume you've been over here from the way you speak. What gets the thumbs up from you, DaButt?

I've sampled the weird and wonderful at the London Beer Festival and it just doesn't work for me. The same with Guinness, I try it every now and then but it doesn't impress.

Laughing out loud Drinking isn't a very taboo issue in Northern Ontario. :D

I like coffee; the heat, the smell, the taste which is pleasant in an unpleasant sort of way. Kinda like the slight piss flavour of kidneys.

I must confess I like the whole wanky ritual around coffee, the stupid requests at coffee shops and dismantling the espresso machine at home.

Not sure I've had a PBR since I used to buy it for $1.50 per six-pack back in the seventies when I was 15. Yuck!

I like just about any beer that's brewed by people who care about quality and don't skimp on the ingredients. There are some great beers here in the States; I've read that high-end beers are bucking the economic trend and are selling very well these days. Some wine lovers are pinching pennies and buying $10 six-packs instead of $50 bottles of wine.

I've visited the UK 3 or 4 times and there's nothing more enjoyable than sampling fine beers that I can't buy in the U.S. and having a chat with the locals.

The last time I was in London I became almost addicted to Timotyhy Taylor's Landlord. Lovey

Beer and coffee bought in a pub or shop?
Is everyone is England that wealthy? I can only afford a trip to the bar a couple of times a month at best!
I buy a 24 of beer over in Quebec because it's cheaper and buy coffee by the bag and make it at home in my crappy coffee maker.

I know it's not the north, but my folks have almost convinced me to take the train from Sault St. Marie to Agawa Canyon in July. Good beer would seal the deal.

I've always found UK pubs to be a decent bargain. I don't think the populace would stand for it if prices were too high. Pints here at my local watering hole get kind of expensive after taxes and tips - even more so if the server is cute.

I usually make my coffee at home. But Starbucks occaisonally declare war on us Guardinistas and print free tokens for a week at a time. Then I have my free coffee, piss in their toilets and give them nothing.

I only drink down the pub, which isn't very often. I occaisonaly have a beer or 3 at home when I'm busy.

Yeh we'd go berzerk and behead the queen or something.

Have you seen how high our booze taxes are.

Cool beans man. Find a good pub with Alexander Keith's, Ricker's Red, Sleeman's, or if you like a stronger beer 10% La Fin du Monde is brilliant. Keith's makes a blond beer now too that my blond drinking friends have all switched too if you're into that.

Although I'm a bit of a hypocrite as I'm currently drinking a Heineken. :)

Or travel to Ottawa and I'll buy the first two pitchers :D
