Whilst the mainstream media are all reporting of two new specials having been commissioned, I can reveal that this is not the case. Channel 4 are certainly interested in more, and the team behind the show 'might' want to, but nothing has been agreed or even particularly discussed. It sounds like C4 are playing that old trick of announcing something in order to get the responsible party to commit to it.

People might be getting this confused with the Comedy Lab they're doing with Simon Bird and Joe Thomas.
Comedy Showcase, I think it is. And yes, perhaps some are. But the media have made it very clear that they believe two new specials are in production now.

Sorry, I meant Comedy Showcase.
Also, this from Iain Morris' Twitter: think talk of inbetweeners specials may be a little premature.
Just got around to watching the final episode of the series. But of an odd feel to it; both an air of finality to it and not. But I laughed a lot, so I'm pleased overall - although I would like to know that Simon got together with Carli, somehow!
As for the series comparisons, I think Series 1 was probably the best overall. Series 2 I recall being slightly disappointed by the laugh count of, but - one or two slightly iffy episodes aside - Series 3 way up again. I'm not really sure I found it any less realistic or believable than previous, but Series 1 was the one I most identified with, that had most things in that had happened to me or people I know.
Smug teenager says why he's way above such an immature show:

Yeah I read that yesterday. Rather irked me.
What an amusing article. I can only assume that Chortle's editor enjoys taking the piss out of schoolchildren, as all the guy does is show up how little he understands.
There seems to be two female versions of the Inbetweeners in the offing-not just a rip off of an old show, but the same idea TWICE! Ple-ease...
I didn't latch on to this until a few months ago. The idea of a comedy about teenagers just didn't sound like it'd be funny for adults. What the flip do I know!!....I haven't seen anything funnier this century...it's brilliant from start to finish.

Do both shows expect to run for more than one series? It seems a strange way to commission shows...
Promo pic of the American Inbetweeners:
Iiiiinteresting. Wonder if they'll be as hilariously coarse as ours? What network's it for?

Not sure; I think I read that some part of MTV were making it. I think.
Ah, that sounds potentially rather promising then. Will look forward to checking it out.
