Scandal at the house

Late 17th Century.
Two Peers are talking

Beaverbrook : Another terrible week Hastings

Hastings: I haven't seen anything like it, Beaverbrook. A Lord of the Realm suspended from the House!

Beaverbrook : If he was stupid enough to express his support for the King – what can you expect?

Hastings: That's Cromwell for you! He won't mess about you know.

Beaverbrook looks around and wispears

Beaverbrook : Mind you I've heard that Oliver himself isn't whiter than white.

Hasting: Really?

Beaverbrook : Yeap, I heard from the fee's office he put in a claim for a new prayer book last week!

Hasting: No!

Beaverbrook : It's true, and only last week he claimed a half crown for repairs to his roundhead helmet!

Hastings: Outrageous! That's bloody commoners for you!

Beaverbrook : And he has the cheek to suspend a Lord!

Hasting: Well no doubt it's all for the best – I'm sure we won't see this type of abuse in the House ever again!

I liked how it was written, the language and dialogue in your historical sketches is always spot on.
