British Comedy Guide

Top 5 instruments.

I'm just watching Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra and it made me wish I could play an instrument. But, if I could, which one would I want to learn? I couldn't decide, so here's my top five in order of preference.

1. Harmonica
2. Trumpet
3. Piano
4. Guitar
5. Drums

Always wanted to learn the drums. Was forced to try piano (well, keyboard - they don't let most schoolkids loose on the average grand), but could never get the hang of it. Guitar looks quite fun. Will try it one day.

1. Harmonica

Really?

For me probably:
1. Piano
2. Saxophone
3. Guitar
4. Violin
5. Drums

This is an excellent programme btw. :)

1. Guitar
2. Bass
3. Piano
4. Drums
5. Violin

I'm not very musical at all though, sadly. Couldn't ever manage to pick playing an instrument up.

I always drifted into the shadows in music class. Mind you, our instruments weren't up to much. Heading for the tambourine or triangle always seemed a wise move.

Yeah, I've always loved the sound. I'd love to be able to bang out some Blues at the drop of a hat. :)

It is good. :)

Me neither. But this is a wish thread, you don't have to be a music genius. :)

You should all go and buy an instrument, now.

Then we'll form a band.

:) I'm sure you could pick it up?

Bill Bailey is amazing. It's hilarious.

This thread reminds me of that Eddie Izzard bit about "Surely the tuba was a punishment: 'You have been sentenced to 3 years on the tuba.' 'Oh noooo.'" :D

Excellent programme. :D

Form a band? We'll form a band! Look at us, we'll form a band!

Ok, one of these arrived in the mail about an hour ago. I should have it mastered shortly.

But then we'd find out we were rubbish, at least this way I can dream! :D

Hug

Laughing out loud

Thanks for the tip - I'd not heard about this programme before, but I love BB so I'm recording it now.

I got to second grade with Piano and just started with Double Bass when I was at school. I wish I'd kept at it and could play them both well now, even if I did end up with big grooves on my fingers from the bass. A great sound though and I always wanted to throw away the classical stuff and let rip with some freestylin!

Jx

ps Can I join your band - how hard can it be?

Piano, piano, piano!

Then guitar
Erm...

I love a whole orchestra (or a band) all together, but I don't think I could pick any to single out.

Ha! Yes, definitely, same here.
