Quote: sootyj @ May 14 2009, 11:37 AM BSTN.B. didn't the US version of Steptoe and Son change from white to black.
Yes.

You were always making me laugh in 2008. 2009 - nothing. You've past your peak.
Quote: zooo @ May 14 2009, 11:38 AM BSTBut (in the films) he's been tall, short, muscular, thin. I belieeeve he's had different coloured hair too, so really, would it be a big deal?
Liiike, The Doctor in Doctor Who has always been white, but I wouldn't mind a black Who.
But I would mind a woman, so I guess everyone has different places they draw the line, some people at colour, some people at gender...
I wouldn't have a problem with the Dr being black because it is Sci-fi, and the character is meant to change appearance, but I would mind the Dr being a Woman, that is just perverted IMO

Hehe. I can only apologise.
If the Dr became a woman could he go back in time and get pregnant by another Dr?
No.
Would make as much sense as a black Tuck.
Bruce Wayne is white, but Batman could be black if a black person wore the costume.
Regarding Robin Hood, I think most people would be able to name many of the characters, and if asked to identify Tuck, would say he's white and fat. Doesn't look like we can have a fat actor, these days, though.
Thanks Dolly for outlining how the actor was hired, I always (incorrectly, on this occasion) imagine some pc motivated casting. Although, perhaps there is some aspect of that, because they didn't specify white actors, or more likely, they aren't allowed to?

Oh, tuck off.
Since the Roman Empire stretched into Africa, and since the Roman Empire also covered Britain, it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that we had black people in this country long, long before the Middle Ages. So theoretically you could have a black Tuck.
You can't have a fat Friar Tuck, but at least we haven't yet gone all the way into body fascism, like US TV. Every US drama series is stuffed with a cast of models.
Quote: Griff @ May 14 2009, 12:11 PM BSTI'm more annoyed he isn't fat. Was Fatman Scoop busy?
You're struggling to come up with a fat black man we've all heard of.
Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince!
Quote: Griff @ May 14 2009, 12:19 PM BSTYou say that like it's a bad thing.
They're version of Last of the Summer Wine would be intriguing.
