Now I've possibly got a bit of time on my hands I was looking online to see if there are any scriptwriting courses around.
THERE ARE THOUSANDS!!!!!
Can anyone recommend any good ones - that don't need a degree or something as an entry requirement?

I'd like to second this question.
Any distance ones?
Is that a regular course? Maybe I'll have a look at them.
I did Marc Blake's course in '06. Gave me a good starting point. Was a good course.
I've just been on Marc Blake's 'How Not to Write a Sitcom' course which was a full day session. I found it really useful and it was good to be in a group of like minded people.
I am also doing a distance learning sitcom course with Tony Kirwood. It consists of ten sessions looking at devising your sitcom from the bare roots to the finished article.
I got the details for boths of these on this site.

Tony's comedy-writing ones are good and how I got started in comedy-writing. If you think my stuff is shit, it is entirely his fault...

Thanks for reminding me. I forget about half of what is on this site!
For those of you not working on Wednesday the 13th, there is a free 'taster' course in comedy writing in Richmond, London: http://www.racc.ac.uk/course/R0090309
I suspect very much Tony Kirwood will be running it, as that's where I learned to do funnie writings at...

I just got the BCG newsletter and it mentions a sitcom course by Dave Cohen on 1 August 2009. Reading the blurb it sounds like it would be both fun and informative.
Has anyone been to a Dave cohen course before and if so what are they like?
(edit - having just seen Griff's comment above...Doh!)

I suppose the best courses to go on would be from names you know and expect. i.e. Dave Cohen, Marc Blake, etc.
Avoid any who actually have no sitcom/comedy credits.
Well, I'm booked on the Dave cohen course on 1 August in London. It should be a good day out.
Anyone else going to this?
I can honestly say that without Dave Cohen I would be nothing. With him, I'm...

Just had a quick look. I enjoyed Dave's sketch writing course so I might book up for this.
I just got accepted into my masters course for Screenwriting at Screen Academy Scotland. Anybody got any good news from this establishment. I'm really excited about it.
