How to write a synopsis?

Hi,
Any ideas / tips / guides on writing a synopsis for a first pilot episode?

A lot of companies don't want to see a synopsis without a script (unless you have previous history with them and they already know what you're capable of)

But I'd say keep it brief, don't put in deep character studies, (that should be clear from the script), and just basically describe the show in as attractive a way you can, who you're aiming it at and where you see it going.
