Where was this?

If it did happen it would have allegedly been at a small independent company. :)

See that's the real problem the little one's have a tendency of dodging legislation. Unless you want to go for overbearing expensive check ups.

I worked for a big social housing provider with a real commitment to equal ops. But no matter how much mentoring, consultation preferential recruiting was offered it made no diference.

People preferred not to apply for jobs or get help in applying. And then moaned that all the promotions went to white, male workers.

Which was ruddy frustrating when said employee had turned down all offers of support and put the same crappy job application in every 6 months.

And I've been passed over for promotion by a manager, who drunkenly told me at her leaving do she couldn't face having a male deputy.

I worked in HR in a large Government department for a while and saw the most outrageous instances of positive discrimination (on one occasion at my expense), and indeed the most preposterous claims of discrimination being upheld in tribunal. On the other hand there were parts of the Department where, if they did not actively practice negative discrimination, then the culture was certainly not conducive to anyone who was not a heterosexual white male (with a drink problem), though I suspect that such enclaves are increasingly a thing of the past.

I do not know about women doing the same job as men for different money; it certainly does not happen in the public sector, or I suspect in most large employers. What you do get is a decreasing percentage of women the higher up the organisation you go, but until maternal instincts are legislated against that is going to continue to be the case.

Nice sketch by the way.
