A song a little about the budget

To the tune of SUNNY AFTERNOON by THE KINKS

The taxman's taken half my dough
It's really messed up my cash flow
Following the budget afternoon
And I can't have a drink
The rise in duty really stinks
All I've got's this sunny afternoon

Fifty percent tax is a big squeeze
I got the Labour Party trying to break me
I earn lots of money in a bank
While MP's spouses have a wank
Or claim on their three houses like Geoff Hoon
When it's budget time
When it's budget time
When it's budget time

My girlfriend's run off with my car
She's swapped it for a Toyota
Under the new vehicle scrappage scheme
Now I'm sitting here
Wishing I could afford beer
Lazing on a sunny afternoon

Help me, help me, help me fly away
Well give me two good reasons why I oughta stay
'Cause I'd like to keep my old tax band
Might go live in Switzerland
All there's here is Darling and his gloom

When it's budget time
When it's budget time
When it's budget time

Ah save me, save me, from this credit squeeze
Heard there's a hidden tax for buying cheddar cheese
I'd fly away on Ryanair
With the bog surcharge can't afford the fare
I'm stuck here on this rainy afternoon
When it's budget time
When it's budget time
When it's budget time

It'd be funny if it weren't so terrifying...

Really very good Rob.

Days is my favourite Kinks song.

Great parody, I think you have really mastered the art of political parodies now! Pretty much explains this year's budget perfectly, easier than watching Newsnight.

I'm trying to put up some competition for you though!

I think this is quite good.
And the fact that Geoff Hoon rhymes with afternoon is quite handy & made me laugh.

I liked it as well.
