Has anyone studied or know anyone on the "scriptwriting for film and TV" degree at Bournemouth Uni?
Bournemouth Uni Course
I went to Bournemouth uni but I was part of the services school. I had friends who studied in the Media school and it was awesome-very impressive! Not sure that helps though!
I went to Bournemouth Uni but I too was part of the services school. But I did have a friend who did a film and media course and he is now a first AD with a very impressive cv. Bournemouth is rated highly for that type of area (or it used to be). So I would imagine that the scriptwriting course would be pretty good.

I know it's generally supposed to be a good place. The old dear works there and from the sounds of it, that course is quite well respected.
I don't know if this is any help?

REINVENTING CHARACTER
A One Day Creative Writing Workshop
Saturday, May 9th, Holton Lee, 10am – 4.30pm
Discover the individuals that are waiting to populate your creative writing and consider the ideas and perspectives that these characters could bring to your stories and poetry. Create new identities and learn about the ways in which your own character might unwittingly involve itself in your writing. Discover how alternative perspectives impinge upon and enlarge a story. The activities in this workshop are designed to give you the freedom to build your protagonists in a relaxed atmosphere.
Sometimes, it's the very isolation involved in writing that we need and seek. At other times, however, we need stimulus and ideas…the muse. In this workshop, I intend to offer you the best of both worlds: activities to make you think and like-minded souls to share ideas with if you wish. Alternatively, I can give you the opportunity to spend a few hours in a beautiful location where you can wander and think to your heart's content with just your note-book for company.
The indoor writing space at Holton Lee is limited but you can take advantage of the many acres of open land available: hidden idylls, the covered barn, the 'thinking room', grazing livestock and glorious views over Poole Harbour & Otter Island together with country paths which are not open to the non-paying general public. Tea & coffee will be provided and the Baker's Arms pub is about 5 minutes drive away or you can bring a packed lunch.
I currently teach a variety of writing skills at Bournemouth University. I have had a range of work published in diverse areas ranging from academic papers, book and restaurant reviews to articles in local magazines both in England and abroad. Last year I was short-listed for the Bridport Prize and won an award in the French Festival of Correspondence. Whilst on my sabbatical year, I was a correspondent for Med-Living, an ex-pat publication and completed a book on life in France. Whilst abroad, I also delivered creative writing courses in St Remy de Provence. I embrace all types of writing and have no particular views to impose on others; I merely seek to facilitate the sharing of experiences. I have a BSc in Politics & Sociology, a Masters in Education and I am a Fellow of Learning & Teaching.
If you would like to join this writing experience please complete the application form and post it, along with a cheque for £25 made out to Alison Green to:

Is anyone on here on the course?
Which course are you thinking of, the MA is pretty full I think. This from the 14th of April...
'JUst a note to say that anyone thinking of applying for a place on MA Writing for the Media should apply as soon as possible as we all but full and will be starting a waiting list soon.'
A question for Marc, as the most succesful writer ( currently - if you know what I mean) that I'm aware of on here. Do you have any formal English or writing qualifications?
Marc P BA. PG Dip. M.A.
Eng Lit and Lang then Film Production/Directing.
Not of any use getting me any work mind, just a good excuse at differing times to stay out of work.
(What is a 'services school'?)
I was considering applying for the BA course in scriptwriting for film and TV. The first deadline was in January but you have until June to go through clearing. I'm going to contact the Uni to see if there are any places available.
Some very talented people have been to Bournemouth!

The Uni is made up of lots of different schools, each of which have a variety of courses. My course, Retail Management, meant I was part of the School of Services Management. Other examples of courses within that school include Tourism, Leisure, Marketing, Sports and Event Management.
Ahhh I seee. I was thinking it might be something army-ish.
