British Comedy Guide

South Wales Comedy writers

What d'ya reckon to having some sort of Comedy Writing meeting thing at some point in Cardiff soon? Some sort of pub for an evening, get some actor friends along to read stuff out?

Miles away from London here and I feel left out

Teary

and too cheap to pay the train Pirate

Count me in Rick!

Can you keep me informed. It's bloody hard trying to network when you live 3 hours from London.

Course - no probs. That's three of us now! I have a couple of writing mates too, I reckon once we hit around the 8 mark, it might be worth coming up with a time n' place

I may live in London I may still be interested...

How you London folk toy with us - how will you get here, one of those new fangled iron horses I suppose?

But why not, Mr. J, why not? Keep checking this thread - I'm sure we'll come up with a where and when fairly quickly

Do I need to bring my own coal?

There's already a few comedy writers gatherings in Cardiff, it may be worth checking them out before starting your own.

Let me know if you do hold one though, I'd pop along. One more can't hurt.

Any details Stan - I've had a shufti but can't find a lot

Cheers

Going along to Chapter Movie Maker is a good way to find out what other budding writers and producers are up to:

I know Gabriel Strange holds a writing group:

And there are a few private groups that you have to be invited to join.

Let me know if you go to Chapter and I'll point people out.

Cheers Stan - I'll keep my eye out for these

And this would be worth attending (there'll be a lot of media types there):

I was thinking the other day it would be good to get together with some writers and do read-throughs of each other's scripts. That way the author could see what does and doesn't work - and get the dialogue straight.

Anyone fancy doing that on a regular basis?

Aye - sounds grand chief

I'm about two hours from London but four and a half hours from Wales. :(
I was in Rhyl two weeks ago but I think that's North Wales anyway.
Bit of a pointless post really. I'm bored. :P
