How do I cut a scene?

I'm attempting to write a sitcom. Can anybody tell me the correct way to show a cut scene if it's in the same place. That doesn't make any sense, I'll try and show you.

Billy and bobby are dancing round their living room.
Cut to:
Billy and bobby asleep on living room floor.

Is this correct ?

Any help much appreciated.

Pete

it would be a different scene number, wouldn't it?

like

SCENE 1
DAYTIME INT
BILLY AND BOBBY ARE DANCING ROUND THEIR LIVING ROOM.

SCENE 2
SAME DAY EVENING INT
BILLY AND BOBBY ARE ASLEEP ON THEIR LIVING ROOM FLOOR

Personally I would do it the way that Pedros has.

I think there are a few different(and acceptable) ways to format things though.

yes, both would do the same job, it's what editors seem to want though.

I think if you write cut to: it implies a fast cut, which is necessary to the scene. Whereas normally you'd leave the editing, to the editor.

Providing it's clear what's going on, it doesn't really matter. Don't get hung up on formatting.
