British Comedy Guide

New female comedy writer

Hello all,

What a wonderful site- I have been busy lurking for a while but since I submitted a load of material to the Treason Show this morning, I thought I should bite another bullet and say hello here and start posting!

I got into comedy writing after quitting my law degree and already I'm much happier.... now if I can just find a way to make a living from it, I'd be overjoyed. :D

I've found writing sketches and songs a good start to comedy writing as they're not huge, daunting projects but aim to build myself up to writing a sitcom. I have an idea but am still developing the characters. I'm also in other arty-farty writing such as poems, radio plays and short-stories and that can be a welcome break from comedy writing I have to admit.

I only started writing comedy a few months ago so we'll see how it goes and hope to get to know you folks better on the journey! Wave

Afternoon, missus.

Hello. :)
Ooh you're like the next Emma Kennedy. She quit lawyering to be a comedy lady.

Hello there! :)

How do, Purdey?

Good afternoon.

Hello and well done for giving up the law - just so long as you haven't thrown away your briefs for comic effect!

Wishing you well on this fine Wednesday afternoon! ;) ;)

Afternoon! Love the avatar Purdey.

Thank-you all for the warm welcome!

Marc P- well, it's the only solution when you have a propensity to get your knickers in a twist :P

Nil- cheers, I need to scale it down somewhat but I like the naive quality of Mavis, though Arthur had the best lines. Good comedy duo.

Welcome! :D

Hello - so how's it all going then?

Hi David- it's going well, I am busy writing another song today so we'll see how it goes. Proof of the pudding is whether TS uses any of my material for the May show...

Hello and welcome to the jaws of comedy. Din Din, Din Din, Din Din, Dindindin...that's the future of musical notation.

Isn't the law far funnier than sitcom writing nowadays?

Welcome!

:D

BOO! :O
