Sibling Rivalry Page 3

Um, no idea where you're at or what you're doing (and it's none of my business) - but if you travel the world in your 20s and do all sorts of different jobs in different countries, you might end up finding something that's fun and pays well. But generally it's wiser to study, get the relevant degree(s), get into your chosen industry/field, work your way up to a high-paying job, eventually get promoted, get rich - and then do the world travel bit when in your 30s. Perhaps. Oops! By which time in your 30s you may be married with young kids, leaving you unable to indulge in lengthy globe-trotting. In which case save the globe-trotting for the 40s.

I did some travelling when I was 21. I am now in a well paid job and had 2 promotions in 18 months. I have a degree and consider myself "wise" in many respects. I don't want to wait till I'm 40 though to travel again. I make sure I use my holidays to see places I haven't seen, but there's nothing like working and living in another country.

Australia is the most over rated place in the world, everyone was jogging the whole time, yuk!

I have never rated Australia particularly highly. I never see any people jogging here, only an abundance of overweight people. Kuwait is more over-rated.

Laughing out loud

There is a big sport ethos in Oz. My sister was a couch potato until she went there, now she's running marathons etc.

Ah, but a laptop isn't going to look after you when you're old. :)

There'll be proper robots then, I'll buy one of the to look after me.

Dolly dagger's children are looking after me when I'm old. ;)

Ya, holidays good for going abroad; otherwise maybe there's a chance of overseas postings?

Mathew are you not envious of your hugely famous brother Stott of the Antarctic?

And I look forward to the invention of improper robots, ooh er missus!

But he was a failure, then he died. So I can always bring that up at family gatherings when they bring out his portrait and insist we do the worship jig.

Yes and Sooty? No legs, can't speak and still in the submissive relationship with Mathew Corbett.

Good for her. Unfortunately, most Australians just enjoy watching sport, not participating. Australia has one of the highest, if not the highest, rates of obesity in the world (especially among children).

EDIT: Sorry for straying off topic. Back on topic, sibling rivalry is well and good in childhood but should be put aside by adulthood.

That's because they're going to be doctors. :)

if I went for promotion and got it that would be the end of any writing I do because the job would be coming home with me.

You're flipping lucky if it doesn't already!

I don't have much sibling rivalry, maybe if I was a twin or something I would, but we're all quite different. My sister's the oldest and does all the normal stuff like marriage, kids, and a mortgage. My brother's the clever one with the good job in computers, and I'm the youngest 'arty' one. They expect me to drift between jobs and keep going back to university and be a bit of an immature twat.

Like kids following him home after school?

shagging and getting pissed which you can't really get paid for

Didn't you say that your neighbours were prostitutes?

the one thing I've learned is that we're all given some sort of talent

God knows when some of us will find it.

Erm, I know it.
