Famous people you have met... Page 6

I meet Craig Charles in a phone shop when I was like 14 when he was filming Robot Wars - I wasn't 100% sure it was him at the time so I just went up and asked he looked a bit annoyed I'd bothered him and got his autograph...

What a guy!

Robot Wars. Ace. First TV recording I went to.

I am just going with the one I am most glad to have met.

Frankie Howerd.

:O

When, why, how, what?

It was at a local charity garden fete, I was about thirteen but already a big fan of old comedies. I went up and chatted with him, got his autograph and still have it on my shelf in the office!

Robot Wars was hilarious. My favourite bit was when you had contestants from a girls primary school enter for a bit of fun, up against two 45 year old nerds who worked for the European Space Agency.

The girls would make a robot called 'Kiss Me Quick' which was basically a balloon tied to a roller skate and the blokes would build 'The Terminator's Hairy Metallic Cock', which could take down buildings in Iraq.

At the end of the fight in which the girls' robot (along with their hopes, dreams and innocence) had been totally destroyed, Craig Charles would interview them. The girls always said 'It was a fun day out' and the blokes would be smack talking the little girls 'Yeah, we crushed their shitty robot, f**king losers, eat it bitches'.

What a strange programme.

Not really famous, but still loved by some - the Wildhearts at a gig in Glasgow. Got my jacket signed and Danny gave me a beer, but it was Red Stripe.

I wish now I had had said can you write it 'Bigger'. That would have been funny.

It was much better with Jeremy Clarkson though. Craig Charles was quite shit.
