I met Michael Crick in a pub once. I told him I'd won a quiz he'd set in the Guardian. Can't remember if it was about football or politics.

It was probably football, with him being a Man Utd and England regular

Who the flap is Jack Wild?

The Artful Dodger, innit

Ohhhh. Well he's not allowed to go in pubs!

I was once in a health cafe on that road Broadcasting House is on and I saw Rich Fulcher go past the window. He was very unkempt and went down in my estimation slightly.

Whilst at the pub, albeit on my night off, the bar-woman came up and told me that one man on a table of three had said that they'd be alright for drinks after time.

I went and stood next to them and said "I've never seen any of these men in here before and they won't be getting drinks after time!" They left not long afterwards.

Apparently one of them was John Motson, the commentator.

Laughing out loud I probably mentioned this before but me and my wife went to The Ivy once for dinner, booked it up months ahead etc. Kept seeing in the Sunday papers various celebs going in and out of the place, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman etc (yes this was in the 90s) and pleasantly anticipated who might be there on our visit. And what f**ker was there when we went? John McCririck eating about seven dinners on his own.

Was The Boobie with him?

It's rather a let down from the outside too. I've found myself walking past it a couple of times, and thinking is that THE Ivy? Really...?
A very unassuming building.

Hehe.
Yes, I'd rather just get a delicious pizza with the plebs.

The plebs? Is that a new side-order that Pizza Hut have brought out?

Ew, no. You wouldn't want to eat them.

No the plebs is a little-known disorder best not spoken about. Prevalent amongst sailors on-board ships during the early voyages of discovery. Pfft!
