Famous people you have met...

I'm sure we've all met famous people in the circles we frequent (!)

My favourite is sitting next to Magnus Magnusson on a flight to Glasgow, we had a good old chat. When we arrived at Glasgow my dad was waiting with me at the the carousel for my bags when Magnus walked by and said ' Have a nice weekend', my dad was so shocked he shouted out 'how the f**k do you know Magnus Magnusson?'.

Sophisticated.

I met all of Stereophonics after a gig in Brighton in December. Kelly Jones was happy to pose for photos (although mine with him is so horrendous) although he did look a bit moody. The rest of the band were top top blokes, stayed to chat for a while.

I've met all the Ordinary Boys, good lads. Met Preston in Brighton recently too.

Met Pete (the Big Brother winner who has tourettes) in Camden a few years ago. Also saw him twice in three days in Brighton a few months back.

Met all of The Others (they're not really famous though, but did get front cover of the NME in 2005) loads of times, I know the singer and the bassist (the bassist is now living with an ex-girlfriend of mine) quite well.

I met Jimmy Carr in Islington, my ex-girlfriend always walked past his house to get to her school.

I met Frank Skinner at a charity cricket match ages ago, then got mentioned in an anecdote on the next night's Baddiel and Skinner unplanned.

Ooo I've also danced with Dick 'n' Dom! At the NME Awards afterparty in 2005. I met Johnny Borrell from Razorlight before that too. Dick 'n' Dom were hammered, it was hilarious.

Probably more I've forgotten. Mostly people in bands. Met the guitarist from Bloc Party with the floppy hair in Koko years ago.

Is he Welsh?

I have met The Mighty Boosh, Rich Fulcher, Dev from Lightspeed Champion/Test Icicles, and MayKay from Fight Like Apes, but that's about it. Apart from one of the Gladiators when I was teeny.

All the members of Wilco

I can't help but think of you when I listen to them DaButt. :P

I have met Andy Scott, who played football for Brentford and is currently their manager.

I seem to recall a story where I was at a fashion shoot with my Dad on the day the new Harry Potter book came out. Apparently there were loads of supermodels wandering around in bras and skimpy dresses and I didn't even notice 'cos of the book. Geek Some of them may have been famous. :P

What was Johnny Knoxville like?

Sophisticated.

My sentiments exactly.
You can't get more sophisticated than Magnus Magnussen.

You do use some very peculiar terminology, Nick.

At the NME Awards afterparty in 2005.

Why were you at such an event age ... 16? 17? Sounds like it should be VIPs only anyway.

Is he Welsh?

Ha!

What was Johnny Knoxville like?

A knob.

We were standing side-by-side at urinals and he was talking on his phone the whole time. I shook his hand and said hi after he'd finished and washed up.

He was nice, but the other Jackasses kept trying to get girls with low-rise jeans to sit on their shoulders so their friends could surreptitiously videotape their butt cracks.

I think it was at a Sleater-Kinney show, so at least he has good taste in music.

For passers by to just see that must of been pretty odd. Funny little story.

As for me, my brother and I got access to the green room for an episode of QI. Met Stephen Fry, Alan Davies, Sean Lock, Pam Ayres and John Lloyd.

Spoke to Danny Wallace, Paul Merton, Mark Watson, Rich Hall, Lucy Porter, Robin Ince, Sue Perkins and Mike McShane.

Met Maximo Park, close to meeting Sharleen Spiteri (nearly doesn't count though does it?)

I know it's not the same as meeting but I saw Sally Phillips recording the last two episodes of series 5 for Clare in the Community. I can't stop talking about her. Lovey Even though I didn't actually meet her, to me it was by far better than meeting everyone else. And yes I know I said Stephen Fry earlier. Who doesn't love that man though? And Danny Wallace. I got his autograph. Such a friendly and funny guy.

I'm seeing them in 2 weeks at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. I hate the big festivals because it's to hard to fight your way through security to visit my friend. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

They have a live DVD coming out next week. There's a full song from it here:

The last I heard they were hoping to have a new album out June-ish. They're gearing up for a lot of touring, but so far the only UK date I see is August 23rd at the Green Man Festival. I think it's in Wales?

Ha! The other Jackass boys sound like dicks. :)

What was Sue Perkins liiiike?

I forgot my favourite celeb encounter of all: Pete Townshend. Pete's always been the closest thing to a hero/idol in my life, so it was a thrill to meet him backstage before a Who concert in 1997.
