Red Dwarf - Back To Earth Page 12

Random interruption of the flow, but does anyone know the next time they'll be repeating it? I know for the last few days it's been non-stop repeats but they seem to have stopped now.

Episode 1 was repeated last night so presumably 2 follows tonight and 3 tomorrow.

Ah, darn. My Mum came back from holiday last night and today told me how much she wants to see it! Much better watching it on the telly than *finding* it other places.

It's good to know they're still showing it though. Thanks :)

I've just watched the new shows and I'm still disappointed and confused by it all. I'm a huge RD fan but what was this? The first two episodes just ended, no attempt at a climax. And how self-indulgent was the 'creator' plot? Also it wasn't funny and missed the laughter track.

The 2nd series of I'm Alan Partridge was very good, if a little strained in parts, it is underrated and still very good, but definitely a notch below his other work as Alan.

The 1st series was almost as great as comedy can get. KMKY, both the radio stuff and chat show remain his crowning achivments IMO.

Totally agree with this matey. So many good quotes from the radio show! Smelly Alan Fartridge

Depite all my enthusiasm on the earlier thread, I have to sadly confess that I haven't actually seen it!!

I don't have a TV aerial, nor an aerial lead socket in my flat, and therefore cannot receive TV- which is fine, as most of it's shit anyway. I shall be going round to a mate's place tonight, as I did last week, to watch ASHES TO ASHES, but that's on BBC rather than 'Dave', which no-one I know up here actually has. My mates in London have it, but I'm buggered if I'm going all the way down there to watch a TV show!! I shall wait for the DVD to be released, or just, ahem, 'acquire' the episodes.

My friends' recptions have been mixed though. One thought it was passable, another that it was dreadful, another that after a slow beginning, it revealed itself to be a work of ultimate genius.

So I guess I'll have to wait and see...

It's on YouTube I think. Or at least it was...

I've just watched the three parts to Red Dwarf - Back to Earth, and I'm left feeling confused and disappointed. It was good to have RD back on our screens from a nostalgic point of view, but from a story point of view it left me scratching my head. For the most part it felt like I was watching a pitch to get further series commissioned. The constant references to itself started to get on my nerves and the creator section seemed over indulgent. I thought it was devoid of laughs and for the most part I felt that the four main actors were just going through the motions without truly getting back into the characters. It hurts me to say that I never laughed once during the whole thing.

I realise that you can't bring something back after so long and expect it to be just like it was at it's peak, but I was hoping for something more than what felt like a three part advert at best and a sorrowful plea for more RD at worst. Red Dwarf is one of my favourite sitcoms and I really wanted to like this three parter, but I just thought it was poor.

Def.
