And just to repeat something that I have previously stated - none of my criticisms are personal, but if they go against the general concensus on here or rub people up the wrong way, then so be it. I'm not here to make friends.

I try and give people good advice; I don't exist on this site to put anybody down.

Sometimes, just sometimes, a little tough love is needed in Critique. That is all it is - nothing more, nothing less.

If my opinions are not wanted, I won't post them any more.

I wish everyone on here good luck in the future, and more importantly good writing.

I agree. And I think people do generally do that when a script is posted that someone plans to send out professionally. Though I'd like to see anonymous posting and feedback - that would be interesting.

This thread was just a bit of fun though....wasn't it?

Absolutely.
It was an experiment & a bit of fun for all those involved.
If the sketches raised a smile with anyone then great.

It wasn't as if it was seven people all round a table bouncing ideas off one another, it was just passed from person to person and changed as it went along.

I wouldn't recommend it as the best way of writing, but it was enjoyable & I'd definitely get involved again.

I always welcome critique but I can still disagree with it as I have had as much success as most on here.

If you are of course a successfull producer then I would obviously have to take your words more seriously.

I think you should lay your cards on the table with your secret identity!

Ok I admit it I am infact Alan Sugar it's how I was certain I'd be a judge and my team would win!

As for secret IDs shot or get off the pot. If you choose not to reveal yourself then live with not having the fawning adulation you are no doubt entitled to. Or just pretend to be some one in even bigger and more succesful than your good self

Personally I thought it was a decent sketch and where as I welcome criticisim I also reserve the right to challenge it.

I reckon Don is Spartacus and I claim my five pounds. And Dolly was bang on Don, which if you are in TV makes it all the more worrying.

And your opinions are as relevant as anybodies on here. But if you offer criticism (particularly if you're going to accuse people of 'lazy' writing) then you can guarantee a rebuttal will be heading your way. Even if you are head of the BBC. (I'm just looking at the hole I've just shot in my foot.)

I've decided to post my comments under an alias for good reason. A few years ago, on a different forum, I did indeed post under my real name. To cut a long story short, some of my comments were taken out of context - and late one night, a brick was thrown through my living room window, with a note attached telling me exactly who it was from.

So now, with two young children in tow, I have decided to use a different name.

I don't know anyone on here personally, and I'm sure most of you are a great bunch - but there are nutters out there with access to this site and, therefore, I must put my family and their safety first. I might be acting a little too cautiously on this, but why take the risk?

As for this being a fun task: as a reader of the sketches (as opposed to being directly involved) the fun stopped for me when Craig Hosie decided to start calling me names. That's neither big nor clever, and I felt slightly embarrassed for you, young Craig.

Dolly, I understood the sketch perfectly - I just found it to be both unfunny and lazy, but maybe (as mentioned previously) it was because I'd already heard it elsewhere. I do disagree with you about the tough love thing in Critique - there really isn't any. People can post any old rot, and then sit back safe in the knowledge that their sketch or sitcom extract will be rewarded with sugary comments such as "Yeah, I quite enjoyed that, Sooty." regardless of whether the reader actually enjoyed it or not.

Clearly this whole affair has been blown out of proportion, but I'm a principled man who treats people with respect and would like to be shown that same respect in return.

But for the moment, I bid you all a fond farewell.

I think it depends who posted. People have no qualms being rude to me.

Anyway, what's wrong with being nice to people, even if it makes them think they write better material than they do?
