Stop Messing About

Did anyone else catch Round The Horne Revisited? Well they are now doing a stage version of Stop Messing About. I've never actually heard the original radio shows but it didn't last long- does anyone have any opinions of it?
I thought the stage version of RTH was tricky to pull off as I was hearing the original versions in my head; it didn't really work for me. But as I haven't heard SMA maybe its worth a try...?

I'd go, as long as it's in the spirit of loving the original. Assume you've got Kenny Williams's Diaries? Look up what he wrote about it - the radio show of course.

I thought the stage version of RTH was excellent. They botched it slightly in the edit for television but on stage it was great.

I couldn't quite 'get into' the RTH stage show- the radio show always had a bit of spark to it as they were often on the verge of ad-libbing or reacting to the audience. The stage version I saw wasn't quite as 'alive'. Plus I'd heard all the scripts done by the original cast- and done a bit better.

As for SMA, well it never got good reviews and didn't run long. I remember KW recording in his diary of one recording that "Barry Took was in a very odd mood- said 'We might as well make a programme called Get Your Cocks Out'!":)
