Comedy Central

I see that, as of 21:00 on Monday, Paramount Comedy Channel is relaunching as Comedy Central. I assume that this is th same for Paramount 2, but either way, it greatly displeases and (more to the point) worries me. If they make any particular change to the show lineup, I will NOT be happy. Looks like Frasier's staying, which is something I suppose, but unclear for anything else. Ooh, and they've picked up Samantha Who?, which is excellent news. But...

DAMN THEM.

Next they'll get rid of Opal Fruits.

Yeah, I keep seeing the adverts for that. Looks like a silly move to me. Paramount does at times, seem a bit like a dead horse, but the love is still there and has some great shows and lineups.

Comedy Central sounds like it's going to try and be edgy, but not the good edgy, the kind of false MTV edgy that just fails to impress anyone over the age of 14.

I don't watch Paramount 2 that much, but I would miss it if they ditched it for an all American line up. Mr. Bean currently amuses me when there's nothing else on.

Yes, agreed. They're really pushing The Office (US) which suggests that they may have picked up some of the later seasons, but otherwise I'm a tad nervous. I suspect the move is being made on two grounds: firstly, common branding on both sides of the Atlantic, and secondly that many EPGs only list the first word of channel names - 'Paramount' is not as instantly recognisable as 'Comedy' for an indicator of its content.

Anyway. Looking ahead in the schedules they doooo seem to be keeping to the same kind of shows for now. A bit disappointed that they've cut off The Kenny Everett Television Show repeats part-way through its run, but hopefully they'll be back again later in the year. They've also picked up The Sarah Silverman Program which I'll tune in to and hope is good. (I see it's been on Paramount before, but on ... CC2 I suppose it'll be, this time.)

Ooh, and Modern Toss... Respectable, Not Going Out again, Rab C. Nesbitt, Black Books, Spitting Image... Hm. *searches for Bean* Nothing coming up for the rest of the month. Boo.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Back to work.
