Psychoville - Series 1 Page 44

I think Psychoville was very shocking at times. It is rare that a Dark comedy delivers anything. This one delivered rather a lot.

Personally I think that Maureen and David were the lynch pin to the series. A kind of single parent ( via widowhood) Devils Rejects.

Dawn French and Freddie Fruitcake was compelling.

I think now the dwarves have gone to the cottage in the woods that could be great.

Jelly is a fantastic character but dump Jolly and make Jelly more twisted. Bring back the clown court.

I detested Lomax and Tea leaf and don't want to see more of them or Snappy.

A great series as it was ground breaking and delivered a lot.
We all sit and pontificate but we can't write Dark Quality.

Thanks guys for some great entertainment.

Surely the whole point of the character is that he ISN'T twisted?

:O

The only characters I would happily not see again are the dwarves. Their story didn't really engage me, though I'm not sure if that was down to the story itself, or the wooden acting on show.

Yes, the two main dwarves weren't possibly the best actors I've ever seen.

Agreed. Unless their storyline is particularly good. They need to be cut short. >_<

I don't think the girl one could have delivered her lines any flatter if she'd tried.

Ouch!

Thanks for posting your views Egregious, bamalamafizzvaj and Lady Scarlet, all interesting view points.

As much as I love Psychoville, I think I have to agree the panto story was the weaker of the five and I won't be sorry if that doesn't return in Series 2 (I'm still wanting a David and Maureen sitcom first though!)

(P.S. I can tell from your username you're a proper LOG fan Egregious!)

Where's me pens...

I read that as 'penis' and was quite worried. :/

Still really not getting some of the Psychoville criticism. Can't say I noticed the 'wooden' acting of the dwarves either.

It wasn't terrible. Didn't ruin it or anything.

Really? How? Do you just not notice such things, or . . ? They were certainly the weak link performance-wise.

Yeah, not awful, just noticably weaker.

Character/story-wise, yes, they were the least engaging.

Performances, I just accept what I see, I guess. They didn't strike me as 'off' in relation to any of the others. Considering the attention to detail that Reece and Steve seem to have put into the rest of the show, I'm not sure that they would have accepted such an apparently noticeably weaker performance unless it was intended?

Quite possibly true, yes.

Yep... they, and especially David, were the best characters.

I agree with Aaron. The joke was that he had all the hallmarks of being just another cliche twisted insane evil clown, but really he was just a grumpy old guy with a chip on his shoulder and bad make up.

And I think you don't have to worry about Jolly coming back. We don't know about the other characters, they could have managed to escape, but Jolly was wearing the bomb so...

I detested Lomax and Tea leaf and don't want to see more of them or Snappy.

Waaaaa... Lomax was great! Second best character. Couldn't get enough of him warning people "Those bitches are not to be trusted!"
