The size zero 'problem' is a myth. Shop sizes have changed over the past 10 years. I have a lot of vintage clothes and they were so much smaller than today's equivilent sizes - even stuff from only 10 years ago. And the clothes in the past didn't use stretchy fabrics like today. But women did wear very restrictive and shape-forming underwear. In the 50s this created an hourglass shape.

Which is better than seeing supermodels walking down the catwalk with their hips showing. There was less pressure on models to be thin, and stars like Monroe, Harlow etc. looked all the better for it, specially in their early career nude photographs.

You're comparing fashion models to nude models which is totally different. Fashion models from the 40s and 50s were as skinny as today (in the 60s they were even thinner). Glamour models today are the same proportions as Monroe, etc but now they tend to have silicone breasts. And lots of real women without eating disorders do have hips bones that show!

During my time working in fashion I saw lots of models in the nude! Some looked better in clothes, some had cellulite and most were the same size as myself and my friends, the only difference was that they were very tall!

There was also airbrushing done to photos in the past - it just took longer!

I did not say nude models - Jean Harlow and Marilyn Monroe were actresses who posed nude early in their careers.

Like today's glamour (as opposed to porn) models.

Are you comparing someone like say Jodie Marsh (glamour model) to one the biggest Hollywood stars of the 1930s?

Glamour models these days all have physiques like they are in the military. Whatever happened to curves?

That was fun, I enjoyed that little debate. Dolly, you made some good points, stuff to think on. Shake hands?

No, not Jodie Marsh bless her.

They got fit. What are 'curves' though? Fat? Big tits and hips?

*shakes hands*. I do love an argument. :)

I'm off to make some daiquiris and enjoy them in the garden.

I always put some palm leaves and chimp fur in mine and serve it up as a Daktari. No one comes to my social dos.

Talking of which...

Sick
Dors looks like a flipping champion boxer in that pic. Surely there had to be a more flattering one than that?

There's really, really not. Check out the previous page in this very thread for another example of her 'look' in this series.

Or in the one episode of it that I have, anyway.

Good heavens, those shots are like out-takes from the Babe audition. :O

Haha! Yes, that's a fairly apt description!

How about a British version of Sex in the City and Desperate Housewives called MILFs?
