I think all of them, including the diabetes and Bill Oddie (!) are better than most of the stuff on the radio.
I mean...was anyone unlucky enough to hear Radio 4's 'Broken Arts'?

I'm not sure that's true in this case, if you've heard Talking and Not Talking before. Some of the vox pop bits do tend to go on a bit longer, as a lot of the humour is in Laura/Ben's characterisations of the speaker, rather than just being one-liners.
Ordinarily for sketches, I'd agree though!
Dan
Yes, some were slightly longer but I like the Laura Solon show and the vox pops and, unusually, I actually made a couple slightly longer so it felt like one of their vox pops rather than a quick gag. Also, stripping them all down to the bare gag made them all feel the same, if you know what I mean. I wanted them to sound like they were different people saying them all.
Oh well, they didn't like them anyway. Cheers all.
I liked the second set the best. Particularly the ECG one - good enough for standup in my opinion. Have you ever done any? I seem to recall you saying you had, but I may be wrong.
The first set didn't do too much for me. The monobetes one confused me. Is 'dia' ever used to denote two/double?
Hi Ben,
No I've never done any stand up and never intend to do any - far too scary!
Dia- isn't often used to denote two/double. Usually it means 'across'. Di- is often used to mean two or double though and I thought that was near enough. It's obviously one of those jokes that's funnier to me than others or maybe just a bit too geeky.
A better version might be:
The doctor told me I had diabetes. He gave me some tablets and put me on a strict diet. The good news is that when I went back to see him last week, he downgraded it to mildbetes."
IMO, 'dia'/'mono' is okay. 'Dialogue' (two people), 'monologue (one person).

The medium one is a little whiskery - I used it myself in a script I posted on here and it wasn't the freshest then...
But apart from that these are all quality. Especially the GM and ECG ones. And beautifully written.
They're all shit.
Oh no, I'm thinking of the ones I sent in. These are really good, if they rejected this lot I really shouldn't have bothered.
